Plot summary

  • In the waning years of Nicolae Ceasescu's Communist regime in Romania, a young woman named Otilia helps her friend Gabita, seeking a late-term abortion. The two girls must make many difficult decisions, descending into a dangerous black market to find a place to have the then-illegal procedure.
