Rather than a “coming of age” comedy, Stay Cool is described as a "knowing-your-age comedy," about a successful author (Mark Polish) who finds himself face-to-face with an unrequited high school love (Winona Ryder) when he returns home to deliver a graduation speech for his alma mater.
