Edward Cole and Carter Chambers seem to come from different worlds, one a business magnate and the other a blue-collar mechanic, when terminal illnesses put them in the same hospital room. The two decide to go on a road trip to fulfill the goals of their "bucket list," a list of goals to achieve before you die. While finishing the list, the two become close friends and learn more about love, life and living well.
