This weekend brings big stars like Katherine Heigl, Jerry Brukheimer’s first 3-D film, and a demon orphan hoping to send a chill down your spine. Which will be the box office winner? You be the judge.

The Ugly Truth is a romantic comedy starring Katherine Heigl, who is best known for her character Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy and actor Gerard Butler. (300, RocknRolla) A romantically challenged morning show producer agrees to a series of games or tests by her obnoxious correspondent to prove his theories on relationships and dating in general. The pair of course find more than they bargain for when they develop feelings for one another. This film although could be cute, sounds like every other rom-com we have seen before. This sounds like one movie that will be fun to rent, but not before.

The newest horror film, Orphan, focuses on a couple who is struggling with the loss of their baby, so in order to deal with the grief, they decide to adopt a child. Kate and John are strangely drawn to a 9-year-old girl named Esther, but after bringing her home, a series of alarming events begin to occur. The sweet, angelic girl is not what she appears to be. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (House of Wax), and produced by Leonardo DiCaprio. Nothing sends the shivers down your spine than an evil child. But even with a demon-like girl, this plot too seems to lack the originality of a good horror film.

G-Force is the new action comedy from Jerry Bruckheimer and Walt Disney Pictures in Disney Digital 3-D. This is Jerry Bruckheimer’s first 3-D film and is also the directorial debut from Hoyt Yeatman. The film revolves around a team of trained secret agent animals who are in fact guinea pigs. Darwin (the leader) played by Sam Rockwell, Juarez (martial arts) voiced by Penélope Cruz, Blaster (weapons/transportation) played by Tracy Morgan, a mole named Speckles (cyber intelligence) voiced by Nicolas Cage, and fly Mooch (high-tech surveillance) (Edwin Louis). The team takes on a mission for the US government to stop evil billionaire Leonard Saber (Bill Nighy), who plans to destroy the world with household appliances. This film hopes to appeal to all ages by being cute for kids and funny for adults. And really, who could resist talking guinea pigs?
