Successful, brassy, smart and confident, Miranda, played by Cynthia Nixon, may just be the Sex and the City girl most like New York itself, but even she some surprises when filming started. Here, she discusses coming back to Miranda as well as the city that made her famous with reporters.

Q: What was it about Miranda were you most excited to return to? Or what aspects of her were you most excited to re-visit?

A: Um, I think certainly her relationship with the other women, and particularly the relationship she has with Carrie. You know they are so intense, you know they have their moments, they have their fights.

But also just Miranda and where she is in her life, and she’s still having her Steve struggles and her mom struggles. It’s just the whole package.

Q: When you found out for sure that there was going to be a movie did you get any hint from [writer/director/producer] Michael Patrick King as to where he was going to take the character before he took it there?

A: You know, when we were going do the film before, 4 years ago, he had described the whole plot to me, and there are certain things definitely that are different but there was also a lot of hold over in terms of Miranda’s particular storyline. So some of it was new and different and surprising, but some of it I already knew.

Q: Do you have a favorite scene that you think you can talk about without giving anything away? Or is that too hard?

A: No I don’t think I can.

Q: Too hard.  I love the Valentine's Day scene. That’s my favorite.

A: That’s really great. Yeah, I love that too.

Q: What is it like working with Sarah Jessica Parker on this? I imagine that you have a different...obviously you see a different side of her than anybody has ever seen because of working with her so closely for so long, but on this one she is obviously so close to it as she’s a producer of it. What about working with her on this makes it special?

A: I feel like with every year that passes on Sex and the City Sarah gets more involved and she feels more confident about voicing her opinion, and I think her opinions are so great...When Sarah is at the helm, you just really feel like it’s going to be a number one, top of the line. She’s always going to make the classy decision, and so you’re just in very good hands.

Q: I saw Sunday in the Park with George a couple of months ago, and you were there the night I was there...What I thought was very cool was watching New Yorkers see you and Sarah Jessica Parker there, and it was almost like they were proud because you all were sitting in the audience.  How does it feel to be embraced by New York like that? Or do you feel that way all the time?

A: When I really feel it is, I really feel it when I’m talking, especially to a tourist either from another part of America or even more so from another country. And I just feel like when they’ve never been to New York before, we are one of the views, one of the really strong views, that they have of New York. So I really always feel like a little bit of an ambassador that way whenever I run into particularly a tourist from another country.

Q: The ladies are coming to this movie; what do you think a guy would get out of coming to this movie? Or what do you think other than their girlfriend dragging them to the theatre, what do you think that guy will enjoy about Sex and the City?

A: I think it’s just a really great movie, and I think that you know it’s sexy, it’s funny and it’s really hard for men or women not to get emotionally pulled in. I feel like it takes you to a really emotional place.

Q: You must be proud of it.

A: Yes, I am.
