Paul Rudd, star of Universal Pictures’ new movie, Role Models, has recorded a public service announcement promoting Big Brothers Big Sisters.  Big Brothers Big Sisters is the largest mentoring organization in the United States.

In the movie, which pokes fun at mentoring, Rudd plays Danny, an immature energy drink salesman who finds himself in trouble with the law, along with his co-worker, Wheeler, played by Seann William Scott. The pair then has the choice between a 30-day jail sentence and a 30-day program mentoring kids.  They chose what they believe to be the easier option and hilarity ensues.

In the public service announcement, Rudd states, “In my new movie, Role Models, I play a misguided mentor.  It’s an R-rated comedy.  The truth is we are making light of a very serious subject. I love the concept of these one-to-one relationships and what it does for kids and adults.  That’s why I’m a big fan of Big Brothers Big Sisters; they change how kids grow up, helping them beat the odds in school and life. Support them at http://www.bigbrothersbigsisters.org/.”

Although the movie is full of foul language and locker room humor, Big Brothers and Big Sisters does think the movie portrays some aspects showing the need for reliable mentoring programs.
