Hoping to cash in on Twilight mania, Borders is sponsoring a pre-release party March 20 featuring a limited-edition Twilight DVD, boasting exclusive extras that it says won’t be found elsewhere.

The Twight DVD goes on sale nationally on March 21, but the "Borders’ Twilight Movie Awards" release party will give fans a one-day advance and offer a special-edition DVD that won't be sold elsewhere, the retailer announced. At each Borders store fans will be able to vote on their favorite moment in ten different categories such as “Best Bella-Edward Moment” and “Best OME (Oh my Edward) Moment.” To cast your vote, fans must download a ballot at www.bordersmedia.com/twilight and bring it with them to the midnight release party.

The winners will be announced at the end of the night, after fans have viewed a special video message from the Twilight cast, welcoming them to the event and participated in Twilight-themed games designed to test the knowledge of true fans.

Some of the activities include:

  • Vampire Baseball-themed Twilight -- Two teams will go head-to-head in nine innings of mind-numbing Twilight trivia. At the end of the game, one MVP - "Most Vampiric Player" - will be selected from each team.
  • Twilight Scavenger Hunt -- Participents will scour their Borders store for Twilight-themed clues.
  • Moments of Twilight Raffle -- Just before the Twilight DVD officially goes on sale, Borders will draw 10 winning ballots from all who entered locally and present each person who submitted a ballot with an exclusive photo card provided by Summit Entertainment.  Each photo card, direct from the Borders exclusive Twilight DVD, features an image of the Twilight cast.

The exclusive Borders’ Twilight DVD includes special exclusive features including interviews with Edward (Robert Pattinson), Kristen Stewart (Bella), Cam Gigandet (James), Edi Gathegi (Laurent) and Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria) that were recorded during Comic-Con in San Diego, plus red-carpet footage from the global movie premiere in Los Angeles. Also, a re-edited version of the Borders Book Club episode that features author Stephenie Meyer discussing the phenomenon behind the Twilight saga.

Each store will have a limited supply of the limited edition DVDs, the retailer said, and most stores will hand out wristbands that will gaurantee the opportunity to buy one starting when they open in the morning on March 20.
