You’ve seen a lot of Nicolas Cage lately chasing all over the world in cars and on motorcycles. Now he’s decided to shift gears and ride horses, having just signed on to star in Season of the Witch, a 14th century period piece.

Cage will play a knight transporting a girl suspected of being the witch behind the Black Plague. They’re headed for an abbey of monks trained in exorcising demons, with much adventure along the way. The female lead has yet to be selected, but the director is already on board. That would be Dominic Sena, whom Cage previously worked with on Gone in Sixty Seconds, another car chase film.
