Diesel on Daddy-hood
Aug 26, 2008When he’s not talking to Filmazing about his latest role in Babylon A.D., action star Vin Diesel can’t stop talking about another role – one he says is greatest ever – that of playing Daddy to his first child. His new baby girl was born in April to Diesel and his live-in companion Paloma Jimenez. “Being a father is a beautiful, beautiful thing,” he told Parade magazine.
Diesel says he’s had a lot of practice with babies, as he was the oldest child in his family and had to do a lot of diaper-changing, lunch-making, dropping off and picking up.That experience helped him tremendously when he starred in The Pacifier, in which he played a secret agent/nanny.
"Working with babies on the set for so long, it really started to bring out this desire to have a child," he told Parade. "And it took a couple years after that to find the right person and to hopefully be mature enough to be a great father– which is really all you want to do." It’s nice to see that an action star has a softer side.
Meanwhile, Diesel is reported to be getting ready for two more episodes in The Chronicles of Riddick franchise. Screenwriter David Dwowy is busy working on the scripts, which will both be shot at the same time.
