It’s been about two years since we last heard much from Clint Eastwood, when he made and released two very ambitious films, Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima, back to back.  It looks like he’ll be erupting with another two films this fall and winter, and both appear to have serious award potential.

At the beginning of the week, Universal announced a release date for Changeling, starring Angelina Jolie. The period drama will get a limited release October 24th, and will go wide a week later on October 31st. The film already had a premiere at Cannes, and Jolie’s performance drew raves.

Eastwood's other 2008 film, Gran Torino, is being kept under wraps. All that’s known is that Eastwood is directing and starring in it, and that it will open a couple of months later, around Christmas.
