Tom Cruise has his pick among several different projects following the unexpected success of his the movie Valkyrie. Since the announcement that Cruise will play a Russian spy in the Robert Ludlum-adapted thriller, The Matarese Circle, studios have been lining up to get Cruise.

Some of Cruise’s possible movie deals include:

1. The Tourist, a Spyglass Entertainment remake of the 2005 French film, Anthony Zimmer, has already been rewritten by Christopher McQuarrie, who co-wrote and produced Valkyrie with Cruise. This film would also star Charlize Theron (Monster) who would play an Interpol Agent who uses an American tourist as a pawn in a dangerous game involving her ex-criminal lover.

2. DreamWork’s Motorcade, helmed by Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) and penned by Billy Ray (Breach, Flightplan) would depict the president’s motorcade being attacked by terrorists as it travels through Los Angeles.

3. Universal wants Cruise to pick up their Lost for Words, which is a romantic comedy where Cruise would play an actor who gets involved in a love triangle with his female Chinese director played by Ziyi Zhang (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and the filmmaker’s translator. The film was originally expected to star Hugh Grant, but he dropped the project last October. The film will be directed by Susanne Bier (After the Wedding).

4. The 20th Century Fox comedy, Wichita, where Cruise would play an undercover agent who gets thrown together with a woman who has man trouble. The woman would be played by Cameron Diaz (There’s Something About Mary).

5. Fox 2000’s Hardy Men may have a possible team-up with Cruise’s Tropic Thunder co-star, Ben Stiller. It will be based on the popular children’s detective stories featuring Frank and Joe Hardy, from the book series The Hardy Boys, written by various authors with the pen name Franklin W. Dixon from 1927-1979. The ‘boys’ have now grown up, and must come together to solve a new mystery. The project is still in the works, and has been for over 10 years, with no success of bringing it to the big success yet.

Cruise is expected to do two films this year and his management, headed by Creative Artists Agency’s Kevin Huvane has to help Cruise make some serious decisions on which movies to participate in.
