JJ Abrams’ Star Trek has high hopes of being the next box office champ accounting for 81 percent of daily advanced ticket sales on Fandango’s movie website.

The film, distributed by Paramount, will open in 3,800 theaters excluding Mexico and Japan on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The film has pushed publicity campaigns in Australia, London, Germany, Holland, New Zealand, Spain, and US to attract new fans that may not be familiar with the franchise. Also, Abrams traveled to Kuwait to host a screening for U.S. troops.

The Sci-Fi franchise has had 10 films, the last was Star Trek: Nemesis (2002).

The re-launch stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, John Chu, Karl Urban and Eric Bana.

Fandango also surveyed 4,000 moviegoers and 83 percent plan to go on opening weekend with nearly 50 percent being fans of either Zachary Quinto or JJ Abrams.
