Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz and Robert Pattinson will star in Unbound Captives with Madeleine Stowe directing her own script.

Stowe wrote the script with her husband, actor Brain Benben, originally to star in it herself.

However, in 1993 she turned down a $3 million and later $5 million offer from Fox to sell her script because there wasn’t a guarantee she would receive more than a screen writing credit.

Fox had planned to have Russell Crowe (Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind) star and Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down) direct the film.

The story centers on a woman (Weisz) whose husband is killed and her two children kidnapped by a Comanche war party in 1859. She is rescued by a frontiersman, to be played by Jackman. Pattinson will play her son.

Stowe will have help with her directorial debut from John Troll (Braveheart, The Last Samurai).

Production is set to begin at the end of the year.
