MTV Crowns Dirty Harry the Greatest Badass of All Time
Feb 13, 2009MTV News named renegade cop Dirty Harry played by Clint Eastwood the number one movie badass of all time, and Ellen Ripley of Aliens played by Sigourney Weaver as the runner up.
At New York’s Comic-Con, MTV News presented its picks for the Greatest Movie Badasses of all time. MTV began its search last month for the ultimate movie badass by asking fans and actors to cast their vote. Josh Horowitz of MTV News revealed the winners alongside Method Man, Judah Friedlander (30 Rock), James Toback (writer/director) and Chuck Nice (Best Week Ever).
The Badasses are:
1. Dirty Harry - Dirty Harry
2. Ellen Ripley - Alien/Aliens
3. John McClane - Die Hard
4. Mad Max - Mad Max
5. Walker - Point Blank
6. Sarah Connor - Terminator
7. Pike Bishop - The Wild Bunch
8. Khan Noonien Singh - Star Trek
9. Boba Fett - Star Wars
10. John J. Rambo - First Blood
Clint Eastwood's 1971 Dirty Harry character hated following the rules and used his gun to solve most problems. And he delivered his own type of justice. Bruce Willis was honored to make the list as his character John McClane from the Die Hard series came in third place. And although his badass days are over and he is now eating donuts, he respects the new crop of Badasses especially Matt Damon. Also, Mel Gibson was amazed that something 30 years old could still have an impact today. His film Mad Max came out in 1979.
