Yet another awards show, the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, was held this weekend. Mike Myers hosted the show, in which Johnny Depp scored twice, receiving a popcorn statue for "Best Comedic Performance" as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and another for "Best Villain" as the title character in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Tom Cruise presented Adam Sandler with the "MTV Generation Award" for his career, which has captured and entertained MTV audiences for years. Sandler proved beyond a doubt why he is the best by accepting the award with a comedic musical performance of "Nobody Does It Better," joined by Kevin James, Rob Schneider, dancers in gold bikinis and a full band, reaffirming the position that “boring acceptance speeches are so last generation."

Transformers won for "Best Movie,” and "Best Male Performance" went to Will Smith for his role in I Am Legend. "Best Female Performance" went to Ellen Page in Juno, while Zac Efron took home "Breakthrough Performance" for his work in Hairspray.

Sean Faris and Cam Gigandet won "Best Fight" for their battle in Never Back Down, and "Best Kiss" – an audience favorite – went to Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman for Step Up 2: The Streets. Iron Man won the award for "Best Summer Movie So Far."

Some of the biggest names in film were on hand to present at the Movie Awards, including Cruise, Smith, Ben Stiller, Sarah Jessica Parker, Will Ferrell, Lindsay Lohan, Steve Carell, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr., Charlize Theron, Liv Tyler, Seth Rogen, Megan Fox, Edward Norton, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Bateman, Dwayne Johnson, Anne Hathaway, James Franco, Rainn Wilson and Brendan Fraser.

MTV Movie Award winners are voted on by MTV viewers, and the show airs every year as the summer blockbuster season kicks off.
