Netflix Movies Coming to an Xbox 360 Near You
Nov 19, 2008Netflix customers will be able to stream movies directly to their Xbox game console in their home, thanks to The Xbox Experience Program, which debuts today.
This new service will be available for no extra cost to Netflix customers who are also Xbox Live Gold members. Xbox is now the only gaming system that lets users watch movies and TV shows from Netflix on their home television sets.
There are more than 12,000 choices for Netflix members, and in less than 30 seconds, their choice will be queued directly to their TV screens. This option will provide customers with at-home entertainment, and more value during the holiday season, the company said.
Also, Netflix, the largest online movie rental service, is releasing 300 high-definition movies and TV shows that will play with standard-definition audio via Xbox 360. The company hopes to add a multi-channel audio in the future, but for now, such titles as La Vie en Rose, Flawless, and Heroes are available.
All Netflix members can rent from over 10,000 movie titles, and can watch their selections on their PCs and Intel-based Macintosh computers or even their televisions using one of the Internet-connected Netflix ready devices.
Netflix currently has more than eight million subscribers, and with one monthly price, customers can keep any movie for as long as they like with no late fees. DVDs are delivered by first class mail with a paid-postage return envelope, making it easy for the customer to return the DVD at their convience. For more information, visit: Netflix.com
