Fans won’t have to wait so long for the Cars sequel. Originally slated to rev up in summer 2012, it’snow been moved up to 2011. In the meantime, Pixar will keep the Cars engines revving by releasing animated shorts called Cars Toons on the Disney Channel, and maybe in theaters.

The first one is called Mater's Tall Tales, and will of course feature the tow truck character played by Larry the Cable Guy.

Cars was released in 2006 and has earned $462 million worldwide, not to mention the millions drawn from merchandise sales.They’re also preparing a Cars Land on a 12-acre section Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim.
