James Spader, Jon Cryer, William H. Macy and Leslie Mann have been added to the cast of the Warner Bros.' family comedy adventure Shorts, which will be directed by Robert Rodriguez and based on his screenplay.
 
Rodriguez, the creator of the Spy Kids and El Mariachi trilogies, is also producing and serving as director of photography, editor and visual effects supervisor. He’ll shoot the film in his hometown of Austin, Texas, where he has his own studio.
 
Jimmy Bennett, Kat Dennings, Trevor Gagnon, Leo Howard, Devon Gearhart, Rebel Rodriguez, Jake Short and Jolie Vanier also star in the film, set in a suburb where all the houses look the same and everyone works for Black Box, manufacturer of the ultimate do-it-all gadget. When an 11-year-old boy is hit in the head with a rainbow-colored rock that grants wishes to anyone who holds it, chaos follows.
