Transformers: Coming Soon to a Theme Park Near You
Oct 22, 2008Transformers, the blockbuster hit, will be developed as a new theme-park mega-attraction for Universal Studios Singapore and Universal Studios Hollywood. The new ride will feature 3D high-definition media, along with high-tech special effects, that designers boost will change the theme park experience.
The planned attraction comes from a partnership among Universal Parks and Resorts, Hasbro, and DreamWorks Pictures. The rides are set to premiere in 2011. The film's director, Michael Bay, and its executive producer, Steven Spielberg, will both be involved in the creation. Spielberg serves as a creative consultant to Universal Parks and Resorts, and has helped developed some of the world’s top theme park attractions.
Transformers tells the story of humans stuck in the middle of an intergalactic war between good and evil robots. In addition to super strength, the robots have the ability to change into ordinary objects including cars, trucks, and planes.
Transformers broke box office records grossing more than $706 million, which was the highest non-sequel gross in 2007. It also received three Academy Award nominations. Paramount Pictures plans to release the sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, on June 26, 2009.
