Universal Goes for Adventure, Laughs
Jun 20, 2008Universal is moving full steam ahead, having just picked up two scripts for development, one an adventure called The Family Bond, and the other a comedy called Repeat After Me.
The Family Bond is about a girl who joins up with the father she’d never met before to save her mother who is in peril. The surprise dad is a James Bond-like spy. Jeff Lowell wrote the script, and they’ve already put producers on it – among them Mark Platt, the same guy who brought you the wildly opposite films The Perfect Man with Hillary Duff, and Angelina Jolie’s upcoming violent thriller, Wanted.
The comedy, Repeat After Me, is about a couple that constantly relives their catastrophic wedding day and starts to wonder why they got married in the first place. Dave H. Johnson wrote the script and will get between six and seven figures for it – a nice addition to his salary as a teacher at UCLA’s film school.
