Mark Wahlberg and James Franco have signed on for supporting roles in the upcoming comedy, Date Night, starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey.

The 20th Century Fox film will also star Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl), Common (Smokin’ Aces), Taraji P. Henson (The Family That Preys) and Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live, Adventureland).

The project will be directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) and penned by Josh Klausner (The Fourth Floor, Shrek the Third).

The film centers on a couple (Fey and Carell) who find themselves in harm’s way after their routine date night goes horribly wrong.

Wahlberg will play a successful, buff security expert who flirts with Fey’s character. Franco’s role is set as a not-so-bright petty thief.

The film will begin production next year.
