Movie insiders are stunned that Robin Williams has signed on to star in Bobcat Goldthwait’s latest dark comedy, World's Greatest Dad. The title sounds innocent enough, but the last project Goldthwait wrote and directed was called Sleeping Dogs Lie, and was about a woman suffering the consequences of performing an unsavory sexual act on her dog.

This time around, the Darko Entertainment feature revolves around a high school teacher who finds his son dead after an apparent autoerotic accident. In an effort to posthumously save his son’s reputation, he writes a suicide note and the student paper accidentally gets a hold of it. Williams’ character decides to cash in on the sudden fame by writing an entire journal he claims to have been penned by his son. Alexie Gilmore is co-starring as a fellow teacher and love interest.

Williams is not hard up for decent roles. He next stars in Old Dogs with John Travolta, followed by Shrink with Kevin Spacey and The Prince of Providence with Edward Burns.
