Aaron Sorkin is one of the most celebrated screenwriters in Hollywood, yet he still has time to keep his Facebook page current. He just announced on it that he’ll be writing a script for a movie about the famed social networking site, tracing the path from its humble beginnings to its meteoric rise in popularity.

Scott Rudin will produce the film for Columbia Pictures. The film will cover the evolution of Facebook from its 2004 creation on the Harvard campus by sophomore Mark Zuckerberg to a one of the internet’s most popular sites, with more than 60 million members. Microsoft outbid Google to invest $240 million for a 1.6% stake in the company that is valued at $16 billion. The film will also explore how the overnight success and sudden, extreme wealth changed the lives of Zuckerberg and his colleagues.

Sorkin isn’t spending all his time on web projects, however.  He wrote the script for The Trial of the Chicago 7, which is finally in pre-production after having been postponed when Steven Spielberg decided against directing the film.
